When does it actually make sense to invest in stronger industrial crates over standard ones?
When does it actually make sense to invest in stronger industrial crates over standard ones?
This is a question I kept putting off answering properly because I convinced myself the difference probably was not significant enough to justify the cost difference but after what happened last month I am now genuinely reconsidering that position. We run a small manufacturing supply business in Ajman and part of what we do involves moving components and parts between our storage area and client sites fairly regularly which means our crates take a real beating over the course of a normal week. For a long time we just bought whatever was cheapest and readily available and it mostly worked well enough until we started handling some heavier product lines that pushed our standard crates well beyond what they were really designed for. Two of them cracked under load during a delivery run and we ended up with damaged goods and a fairly awkward conversation with a client who had been with us for over two years which was honestly pretty embarrassing. After that incident I started researching better options and came across crateco while looking at industrial storage and transport containers available locally in the UAE and their closed crate section was actually where I found the most relevant information for our situation. Reading through the specifications helped me understand that investing in a heavy duty closed crate built for consistent high load use is a genuinely different product category from standard crates rather than just a more expensive version of the same thing and that distinction matters quite a lot depending on what you are actually putting inside them. What I still cannot fully work out is how to calculate the realistic load requirements for our application to make sure I am choosing the right weight rating without massively over specifying and paying for capacity we will never use. Would really value input from anyone who has gone through a similar equipment upgrade for industrial transport purposes.
