New Arrivals: NOMOS Glashütte Tetra 27 White and Tetra 27 Two-Tone Edition
NOMOS Glashütte has added two new watches to its smallest square-case collection: the Tetra 27 White and the Tetra 27 Two-Tone Edition. Both watches measure 27.5 mm on each side and are only 6.1 mm thick. They are both powered by the in-house DUW 4001 manual-winding movement and are available with either a solid stainless steel or sapphire crystal case back.
While the 27.5 mm diameter may seem small, it is not. Geometry plays a key role: a square dial offers approximately a quarter more surface area than a round dial of the same width, making the Tetra 27 feel more like a 33 mm round watch on the wrist than a 27 mm one. The lug spacing and double-layered lug design further enhance this compact feel. This watch fits perfectly on a slender wrist while also showcasing the wearer's discerning taste.
Of the two, the two-tone dial is more striking. With the seconds hand removed, the NOMOS is left undisguised, replaced by a two-tone galvanized dial: a light gray square area in the center echoes the case, while gray stripes in the same color outline the minute markers. This design concept is consistent with the 29.5mm two-tone Tetra watches used for many years, but the smaller dial size makes it appear more compact. The white version is more conservative and classic—with tangential numerals, blued steel hands, and a small seconds hand—notably, this 27mm watch uses flat, round sub-dials, rather than the recessed square sub-dials of the enduringly classic manual-winding Tetra 29.5.
The DUW 4001 movement is the highlight of these watches. It is derived from the Alpha movement, which itself is NOMOS's improved version of the Peseux 7001 movement. However, the current DUW 4001 movement represents a significant advancement over the Alpha movement: a three-quarter plate, Glashütte enamel, perforated finish, double sunburst ratchet, blued screws, and a NOMOS-manufactured balance wheel system with a blue hairspring. With a power reserve of 53 hours, this is remarkably ample for such a compact manual-winding movement. At this price point, a sapphire crystal case back is naturally essential for a watchmaker with its own escapement.
The Tetra is NOMOS's square-faced Glashütte collection: a slender stainless steel case accentuates delicate double lugs, exuding an Art Deco aesthetic. The Tetra 27 is the most compact model in the collection, and these two new pieces are among the smallest watches in the NOMOS range.
The Tetra 27 duo simplifies time display to its ultimate form. Two heat-treated blued steel hands indicate the hours and minutes, respectively, with the case design echoing the silvered white dial: the dial features a light gray checkered pattern in the center, with a matching gray dial surrounding the minute markers. The watch is powered by the manual-winding mechanical movement DUW 4001 duo, equipped with a NOMOS balance system and a power reserve of approximately 53 hours.

The Tetra 27 white model features a white silvered dial, heat-treated blued steel hands, and an integrated small seconds display. Its minute markers cleverly utilize a "circle-to-square" design concept, while a single dot precisely marks the 6 o'clock position.
